The statistics for the Forum are going vertically upwards! :D

Something is going right here. It would be good to hear, especially from new members, why people think there has been this sudden surge in interest and activity. :-?

Other than Malcolm's forthcoming birthday, that is!

I joined here because it was the first Merc forum I made an effort to look at, and I am enjoying it. :)

I am pleased about that, this is what its all about, not everyone wants to hang around after their fault is fixed (we are one of the best in the world at that) To have some light hearted banter is good, and everything does not have to be high tech. We are also lucky in that there are no groups that stick together.

I like it here.
No cliques, friendly (and quick) advice and answers to questions, a real depth of expertise in quite a few of the members, and barring one really annoying troll who has since been shamed and resigned, a bunch of polite and pleasant contributors all round.
Mind you, we're a self-selecting group....the sort of car you drive says a lot about your character, and vice-versa. Compare and contrast the character of yer average BMW owner with MB owners....nuff said.

Very true and we are lucky owning MB's as a former member of the RREC and technical secretary I can only endorse what you say

We Brits have always had a bit of a thing about clubs, and I think that Forums like this one are simply a modern extension of that characteristic. There's a certain comfort to be drawn from being among enthusiastic, like-minded people, and the internet has given us all the ability to have that from the comfort of our own homes (whether or not that's a good thing is another matter!).

I used to work on a classic car magazine that was closely involved with the car clubs, so I saw first-hand the benefits enjoyed – both technical and social – by their members. Of course, there's always a pinch of eccentricity thrown in too, but that's another British trait I guess. The image of five or six Triumph Herald owners sitting in a remote, wind-swept field in deck chairs grouped around their cars and sipping tea from thermos flasks is a strange but quaintly charming one!

Now...where's my woolly hat?...

We have another 150 new members in 3 days.

Tonight was the first time ever that I could not keep up with the new post, I managed to work back 1 hour all night long, so loads of post unread.

And a big welcome to all of you new members :D:D

thanks television, just joined today after browsing for a few days. im picking up a new e280 sport cdi tomorrow and after reading threads all over the forum i knew it was invaluable not to have the support and help of fellow members on here.

unfortunately, i do not possess any expert knowledge on mercs but will try my best to contribute where possible.

look forward to becoming an active member :)
