The cylinder head from my 300TE 24v is scrap due to severe corrosion around the water jacket. (Change your coolant once year!)
I have located a second hand head with or without camshafts.
As the cams and tappets from my current head are OK, will it be acceptable to fit them to the replacement head or will I need new tappets?
If new tappets are needed, it may be cheaper to buy the replacement head complete with cams.
Thanks
David

Not really an answer to your question exactly, but I went to get some parts of a 300CE 24v (1992) and the seller said I could take what was left of the engine ( head, cams, fuel distributer, injectors, etc) for £250 - I reckon he may go little lower. Let me know if this of interest, if not, do you reckon this is good price to keep as a spare ( the engine had done 109,000 miles).

Cheers
Simon

Hi Simon,
I may be interested. It depends on the replies that I receive. Also, it would need to be the right part. There were 3 different types of head. The price isn't bad but the condition is important. Whether it is worth having as a spare is up to you. To buy them new would cost an arm & a leg. (a bare head alone is £2100 + vat)
