Greetings to all !
I hope someone here is able to help me
I have a J reg 300SL, the joy of my life - especially in this weather, however i have just come back from holiday having been away for a month or so - and shock - horror !
Yesterday i tried to put my roof down - and it worked - but i felt it was struggling as it was slow and had a few blank spots, then hours later i tried to put it up again - and having got half way - it STOPPED !!!! and that was it
When i operate the switch near the gearbox - i can hear ticking, and sounds of something squirting out from where the hood should fold into.
Anyway - i have managed to open it up and found that the hydrolic arm (drivers side) which pushes the roof up and down appears to have sprung a leak. Theres a pool of oil from the leak underneath the car and the wind deflector will not operate.
Can anyone give me sound advice as to what i should be doing ?
Should i change the hydrolic unit all togther or can it be repaired ? can i even try and top it up with oil - solutions please - i'm all ears
Thanking you in advance.
