300 SL - what is it worth?

I am having to let my lovely diamond blue 1987 d reg 300 sl go, to make room for a E320 coupe (94). It has done 120,000 miles and is in good mechanical condition. Bodywork is good too but not concourse! Original with full history and all receipts.

Would you advise the 'trader, ebay or a specialist seller (eg mercseller)?
What kind of reserve would you set?

Many thanks

Ed

Given what I've seen

on e-bay and ME and MBOA recently, you are probably looking at around 8k. However, all you need is loads of really good weather, and you might get another 1k.
I have to say, some of the SLs in the trade ads have been there at least a year, so obviously their prices are way ott.
Set the reserve at what you are willing to let go for, rather than what you would like to get, would be my advice.

I used parkers to value mine, wanted to see if I had picked up a bargain or not.

Not sure if that was the best way to value it. I guess it's what people are willing to pay for it, some will pay over the odds, some won't. I thought my previous car would go for more, but alas, it didn't.
