300 TD Vacuum System.

I am just a new member on forums & need some help on 1981-300TD Wagon vacuum system.My engine won,t turn off, gears won,t change & brakes don,t work.I have tried unsuccessfully to find leak in vacuum system has anyone out there a sketch or copy of system so I can trace it. Any ideas or suggestions??

If your brakes arn't working and I suspect that you mean that the servo is not cutting in then you most likely have a split in the diaphram in the vacumm pump. Hi, still having troubles with car had new Vac.pump fitted, that cured the brakes but engine still won,t turn off & auto gear box won,t change gears?The Vac. lines to ignition& gearbox testOK on Vacuum guage. I live in a small country town inOZ with only one mechanic who I don,t think has even seen a Mercedes never mind work on one!!!Has anyone got any ideas or suggestions to help me out. I always thought the engine turn off was electronic by means of a fuel cut off.

Is there a connection between this and the auto not changing gears? Is there an electrical supply that might be common....fuse? supply wire? Just a thought and a quick check.

300TD Vacuum System.

Finally got vehicle going again after many hours of testing Vac.lines.It was the line that operates the headlight movement up or down disconnected behind the lights, hooked it back up & everything running like new again.Maybe I didn,t need a new Vac. pump at all???
