Hi,

I wonder if anyone would be able to tell me if this has happened before.!
300TE 3.0 straight six cylinder. No Spark at all on No6 and No3. I have replaced all the plugs and HT leads cleaned and checked the Distributer cap !!!!

I am guessing that it is a Low Tension problem. How easy is it to replace ?

Thanks in advance Neil!

Something does not add up, the wires in the cap should be in the order
1-3-6-2-4-5. The only way you can have no spark on 3 and 6 is.
Faulty high voltage cable.
spark plug fouled.
Cap arcing to ground
Or if there is play in the shaft of the distributor and the triggering device is set too fine then, then it is possible that coil is not triggered at that point.

There is nothing else

Hi Malcolm,

Thanks for that, A couple of things though I am not getting anything down 3 or 6 (stick my finger in and no belt) also my local dealer told me the firing order is 1-5-3-6-2-4 ????.

Going on what you have said sounds like I need to purchase a new dizzy cap !

Cheers Neil

If there is something wrong with the cap you should see track marks on the cap.
Don't forget that if the hall effect sensor may not be triggering at the 3-6 point, how much play in the center shaft.

Firing order is in fact 1-5-3-6-2-4. I had a similar problem myself on damp days. Or if the car was left standing, therefore suffering from condensation. The distributer cap and rotor arm were very worn. Once changed I never had the problem again.

Hi, Right i think I have found the problem ! the bottom screw is cross threaded and therefore not pulling the cap tight. 3 & 6 are at the bottom of the dizzy so Im pretty sure thats it !

Thanks for all your Help !

I doubt it,the spark would jump 20mm, though as said earlier it may stopping the triggering. One word of warning, the voltage can be lethal with transistorised ignition, and you should not use fingers to test.
