300CE 24v auto gearbox problem

Hello guys n galls,
My auto box, 5 speed will not change up into top.
I have been told this gearbox is flawed and has problems.

The cost of removal and stripping is horrendous. I do not want to go this route unless the only option. No signs of a problem noise, or anything. I just went out in the car and no top gear!!

HELP anyone please. :?:

Chris,

You're right the early 5 speed boxes are weaker than the 4 speeds and a common fault is when the box will not change up into 5th.

I'm not sure what you class as horrendous, but George Fraser in London will overhaul the box and re-install it for about £1000.

George Fraser has an excellent reputation and is a well known MB auto-box expert.

Give them a try on 020-8795 1055.

The amount is a good deal less than the amount I was quoted.
