Hi all

New here and sort of feeling my way around the car which I picked up during the Xmas break..

When I picked it up, the drivers side rear footwell was soaked.... driving it from Glasgow to London via Liverpool and Stoke seemed to dry it out and despite torrential rain the car has been dry

until today...

washed the car this afternoon (noticing all the little dings and chips to the paintwork... ) and for the first time rinsed it with a hose..

drivers footwell now has a bit of water in the sound deadening..

So.. hopefully just blocked drains as it seems to keep english weather out....

I've found and flushed the drains either side of the main engine bulkhead, from reading threads here and elsewhere I think I know how to find the drains to the sunroof (they exit in the sills I believe) but I was wondering how many others there are...

could anyone explain how to get to the drains that run around the tranny (I believe these are from the A/C heater...) and any others I have missed.. I hope to give them all a good flush in the next days..

Second part of query - the rear windows are lightly scored and when damp they come back up covered in what looks like rusty water... which suggests the window seals are dead and corrosion is afoot inside the door panels.. any thoughts.

Cheers

Ade

The first thing to do is to remove the filter in the heater box at rear of the bonnet, under thescreen. There are drain holes in the bottom, clean them out with a piece of flexible wire

There are drain holes in the doors, why not take off the covers, clean out and Waxoil.

the rest of the car is here.

OK snuck out of moving house duties and had a poke round the CE:

The sun roof drains seem ok, as are the right & left scuttle drains, poked a coathanger wire down the central vent drains, poured water down each one, its getting out under the car so they appear to be working....

Damp still in driver's side footwell. Taking the carpets out and transmission tunnel carpet, it appears to be damp at the base of the transmission tunnel - to the LHS this is presumably related to the heater drains?

The hose visible in the middle of the second pic - could this be leaking? There is a bit of surface corrosion visible and that screw holding the tunnel carpet up is a bit rusty which suggests the problem has some history..

Checked for door drains but couldn't spot anything obvious. When the windows (front and back) are dropped, when they come back up they have moisture on them which suggests some trapped water somewhere. I'm guessing I'll have to remove the door cards for a better look...

Comments appreciated.

Check for corrosion next to the drains in the firewall. Water penetration here can run directly to the rear footwell via electrical trunking.
