Hi,

I haven't used my car much over the winter, and I've just given it a good clean, oil change and airing out. But, I've just noticed that the rear headrests have packed up. They are in the down position, but don't lock into the 'up' position.

The vacuum system seems to be working because the central locking and front seat locks work ok. Fuse is ok too.

The headrest retract button on the dash seems to do something, because I can hear it operating some kind of actuator. Still, the headrests don't lock into position...

Any ideas???

Nobody with any ideas on this one?

Perhaps someone knows how I can at least remove the head rests, and the parcel shelf to look a bit further?? I'm getting stiff from lying in the boot and trying to see whats going on!

Thanks

The central locking is on a different vacuum system so won't affect the rear head rests.

Have you checked the switch to see if it is stuck on? (Unlikely, but worth a check)

Thanks Turnip,

No, the switch doesn't appear to be stuck on, because I can hear it actuate something when its pressed.

Under the headrests there is a catch similar to a door lock or boot lock, it just doesn't seem to be engaging or locking in place. It seems like the release mechanism is stuck open, but I've got no idea how to access it...
