300D manual jerking in 2nd and 3rd

Hi all,
I have a 1987 300D only 80000miles on the clock, it runs great except that it has a jerking fit every now and then when pulling up a hill in 2nd and sometimes 3rd gear. It feels like a fuel starvation problem, but have changed the fuel filter, the in-line filter and the tank filter... any experience of this??
Any ideas welcome... I have to persuade my wife that it is a cool classic!

My engine used to do that. I removed the ALDA and that solved it completely.

Thanks for the reply, but mine's the naturally aspirated version so don't have an ALDA, think it's more to do with a gungy fuel tank constantly choking filters and maybe injectors/pump. I am thinking of going down the bio-deisel road as we have a local supplier, do you need to register somewhere?
