Hi All,

After waiting for years to get my hands on my first MB, I find myself selling up a lot sooner than I'd hoped but circumstances dictate I'm afraid.

1992 300E, auto, 145K on the clock, black with mushroom leather, electric windows/mirror/roof, Blaupunkt Radio/10 CD multichanger, cruise control - all in perfect working order.

There's FSH (most MB dealer) and its had three previous owners. The drive is superb - comfort and handling combined perfectly. The engine is as strong as it could be. Fuel consumption has been a steady 26 mpg in S mode.

I've replaced both rear tyres and both rear brake pads/discs. It's taxed until Sep 06, MOT'd until April 06.

Inside is in excellent condition, no more wear than you'd expect from a car that's been used every day for the last 14 years! Leather interior is in great condition and has been cared for, as have the carpets. Minor things like broken metal strips on the drivers side doorsills are the only real let down.

Outside there are a couple of small bits of rust around the front wheel arches and the odd stonechip/ding from 14 years of daily use. Nothing that won't be polished out and sanded down with some time, TLC and a deeper pocket than mine! Still a lovely looking car.

You can see some high res pics in the owner pics section of this forum.

I'm looking for £1,800 ovno, which measures up well compared to other models I've seen on e-bay and others. I'll take any sensible offers as I am keen to sell on to a good home. So, make me an offer people.

Cheers

Chris

Hi again,

No response to this one, which has surprised me a little given the amount of interest in these cars. I'm wondering if the price is a little high perhaps? Some advice or feedback of any kind would be good at this stage, as I am keen to sell. I'm also thinking about e-bay; has anyone had some expereince of selling their beloved Merc that way? Again, comments more than welcome.

Thanks again all.

Hi Fozzy,

Thanks for the feedback there - much appreciated. I hadn't considered the fact that there may be a glut of cars on the market at present, so perhaps I'm in for a longer haul that I anticipated (and want in all honesty).

The Ebay things sounds tedious but, as they say, in for a penny in for a pound and at least there seems to be plenty of seller controls built into the system. I take your advice on sorting the serious from the players - I'll do my best to make the distinction if I do end up going for it.

My latest idea is to advertise in the MB Owners mag, which I'm sure we all get. however, I reckon there may be plenty of potential buyers out there who get the mag but don't access this forum. Does that ring true?

Thanks again!

Chris

You'll be missing the snow and freezing temps we've got here then! Offshore must be a drag sometimes but I hear it has its compensations?! $$$ ker-chinggg $$$

Sure, I'll let you know when she goes, which I hope is not too long. Despite parting being such sweet sorrow, the beast has got to find a new home before it puts me out of mine!

Take care, see you around

Hi All,

Sorry for pushing this back up to the top of the lists but I'm concerned at the total lack of interest in my lovely and very well priced 300E.

This car is in fine shape and will bring many years of pleasure for the next owner. The car has just been thoroughly cleaned inside and out, so it looks as good as new. I'll put some pics up in the forum soon so you can see how well it scrubs up.

Please pm me if you have any questions or advice - perhaps I am doing something wrong or not at all? Any comments gratefully received - serious offers for the car would be even nicer!
