I've been gradually bringing the old dear into the modern era by improving cosmetics etc and fitting a better head unit..

The only thing I can't suss out is the audio wiring to the rear speakers (there's no audio wiring diagram in my haynes book)

The front two speakers work fine and I have another two pairs of wires just hanging around but no matter how I connect them - no sound.. I don't even know if the fader thing in the centre console works.

If any one can explain the wiring please let me know !! - Otherwise I will probably just run new wires to the rear..

some piccies :-

err... good question - it has a fader control near the gear lever so I assumed it had rear speakers!

I'll have to check that the rear speakers are there !!!

Rear Speakers

It does have rear speakers but are nicely covered up from the top, but you should see them when you open the trunk.

Now about the wiring. Since you figured our the front speakers, that's the easier part. The rear speakers are kind of tricky. the factory radio has two speaker plugs coming in. The black and white, at least mine does. The NEGATIVE terminal of these plugs are the negative wires for rear speaders and the positive wires are at the fader at the centre console. Use a nine volt battery. Connect the negative terminal using a piece of wire to the negative terminal of one plug at the radio and use teh positive terminal of the battery and touch it to each terminal at the fader (should be 6 there, A1, A2, E1, E2, S1, S2 and ground and another for illumination). Keep checking these untill you will hear eithre the right or left rear speaker respond. Repeat teh same for the other side. This should work. Once you find it you will have to extend these 2 wires from the fader to the aftermarket stero and connect appropirately.

Cheers!
