Hi,
The E/S selector switch on my '92 5-speed 300SL24 is faulty - "E" mode appears to be as I would expect it, changing up at relatively sedate revs, but switch to "S" and I lose all urgency altogether - downchanges aren't forthcoming unless I hit the kickdown (which incidentally is a little sluggish I feel but that's another matter!).
I guess the switch is at fault or the electronic controls around it.
Is there anything I should be looking for? I'd like to start by cleaning up the connections to ensure that's all working - where is the "brain" for the 'box located?
If taken over manually I can hustle the car along quite quickly but this surely takes away the whole point of an auto!
Thanks in advance,
Owen
