hi, stupid question, my 300te is low and a bit bumpy on the backroads, i´m travelling tomorrow to raid a scrap 300te for parts, i´m wondering if i have a sportline or simply knackered suspension! ive searched the forum and understand that sportlines have emblems on the steering wheel and gearknob and wings etc (mine doesn´t), and of course harder suspension(mine does), is there a way to tell..chassis no..or a I:D plate somewhere?
the guy i bought the car from said it is a sportline, but i now know he knows as much about cars as my dog.:D
cheers and thanks,Marc. Sweden.

Even the sportline cars ride very well, so I'd guess it is time to check your spheres

ahaa!

that is a great link ,thanks..
so now i now she left the factory with sports chassis among the options (that will save me some money tomorow) and re-inforced front seats also??
well that explains the ride, sports chassis= harder springs and better dampers´, wonder what else is different to ´standard ? still, not a real Sport line or is it?

I only ever saw the sportline markings on the later car with the 104 engine.

The ride is still good with these.

As stumpy, do check the rear spheres, they will cause the hard ride

takes me back to my days as a Citroen mek´getting covered in smelly green fluid at 55bar trying to re-charge borderline´ spheres for tight customers!
Are they the same? Nitrogen on one side, v.slowly dissipating over the years through the diaphram resulting in hard suspension and eventually rupturing the daiphram when it makes contact with the charging tap?
as i recall the only way to check their condition is to remove them from the vehicle,if fluid come squirting out there dead, if it dribbles out there re-chargable? or is it a pump up system like a austin metro kinda thing? this all sounds very expensive:(

Spot on with your theory. They (spheres) are not that expensive, but the pipes can be a pain to deal with during the fitment. Citroen specialists are good guys to do this job.

Really this should be in the suspension section, for there a those that only answer technical questions, if in the wrong section, then the faults could be missed.

The mods often move them, but that is not easy when a technical post joins a general thread.
