Hi. Can anyone help diagnose a noise that has appeared on my '99 310 with 158K on the clock. I first noticed it when on a narrow street with quite a high wall to the drivers side - hence some reflected noise. The sound is a sort of tinkling metallicy noise which is more apparent on overrun than take-up and especially so when you have changed down say into 3rd at 15~20 mph. It can sound quite fearsome at times and does develop into a slight grumbling with a bearing type noise. The motor is still really sweet and the noise is still apparent when you disenge the gears and freewheel. I was worried that it may be the D/M flywheel, but am (hoping!) its something more simple like a propshaft bearing. Any ideas knowledgable ones.
