Hello,

I think 2001 would be a 210? Sound like either the key isn't transmitting the data required to the EIS switch to release it or the key is sending the data but the EIS module is reading it for some reason. Have you got a spare key have you tried that? I've had simliar problem on a 203 C-Class central locking worked but couldn't turn key. That turn't out to be the EIS module.

Hope This is of some help.

Looked at 1850 faults for the 211, will check out the 210.

Eis module is the thing you put your key into. It stands for Electronic igntion switch. To replace it it requires a computer to code a dealer or local indy that has the right computer would be able to check it out and fit a new one if required.

Hope this helps

Car numbers 210 820 27 26 / 210 820 28 26 can lose their coding. a complete re set should be carried out if the car is one of the above

This is done by disconnecting battery for 30 sec and re programing alarm.

that's one , will ook for some more.

All other faults are with the EIS as ludders said these things can go if the key is left in the lock fo more than 30 mins

Is the steering lock released yes-no.

Malcolm

all numbers refer to your VIN car number

OK not so good, either no power is going to the switch, or the data bus has gone down, this means a new EIS module, as Ludder says, this can only be done with someone with a programing set. this would appear to be a common problem on the 210 it is not listed on the 211

Sorry cant be of more use, you could disconnect the battery in the morning for 5 mins and see what happens.
