350sl non-runner.... ideas?

Have just aquired a 1972 350sl (107) that did run fine, but before we bought it suddenly stopped starting... any ideas?

Start with the basics, is fuel getting to the engine (can you hear the pump whine)?

Check the dissy cap for corrosion/ bad contact.

Failing that you are down the painful route of looking for air leaks etc..

a common fault is the dizzy cap or dampness inside it. can you hear the fuel pump run for a few secs when you turn on the ignition ?

Fuel pump buzz's as normal, and have made sure the dizzy cap is dry, is just making no attempt to fire up

pull a lead & use a old plug to see if you have a spark

As roofless do check for a correct spark, healthy and blue and jumps a good ½ inch
