Hi I'm hoping someone can help. I have bought a Bluetooth obd2 reader that worked fine in my last CLK but I've now got a slightly older one that doesn' have the 16 pin port. I have bought a converter to 38 pin but it won't turn the Bluetooth on. Does it only accept an inbound signal and that' why it won't power the device or is there an issue.
    Thanks for reading

Many of the 38 pin adapters don't work. They need pins 1,3 and 4 connecting as a minimum. Many only have 1 and 4.
    Pin 3 provides power.
If you have pins 1 3 and 4 connected then check which pins your adapter requires.

And correct me if I'm wrong, you won't get a lot out of it unless you're connecting it to a STAR. Certainly, the iCarsoft 980 doesn't work with the 38 pin adaptor and probably doesn't have any cars that use the 38 pin adaptor on the list of cars covered.

I have a 38 pin to OBD2 adapter which will work with the i980 I have but it will only give generic errors and cannot query MB specific codes or modules other than the engine ECU.
I also have a CarSoft v7.4 multiplexer and cables for connecting to 38 pin diags and this will retreive 90% of the data STAR will.
