Hi all,

I've got a 380 SEC which has developed serious auto box problems, I can get a used one at a reasonable price so I was wondering how difficult it would be to swap the box? If anyone out there has any experience I'd be pleased to hear from them.
Cheers!
Barrie

the first thing id do is clean and replace the oil and filter - this cures a lot of problems. the 'new' box should have this done as well if this doesnt fix it..

talk to an auto box specialist if i were you - its not really a DIY job

If you are attempting the job yourself make sure you leave the toque convertor on the box when removing and refitting. This is not a big job if you have ever done one on any other car before.

Thanks for your speedy replies! I think the previous owner was engaging drive at 1500 rpm (defective idle valve) and therefore has really damaged the box. I've got the Haynes manual for the 124 series which infers that it's a big job, but I must say, don't think it looks that difficult. (Famous last words). If I can replace it successfuly I'll post some details for those who also might be contemplating it. Thanks again, this forum is a great resource.
