380SL - big engine problems

Hello all

Need help with my 1982 380SL - Timing chain appears to have slipped a cog, hence 3 bent valves - one broken one which has embedded itself into the piston (and I've only looked at one side of the engine so far!) I wonder if anyone has any advice on removing the rest of the engine or knows where can get hold of a suitable manual

Oh dear, that sounds v. nasty. You can pick up US CD-based manuals on ebay very cheaply. They include the M116 3.8L engine. Click on the following link and you'll find plenty of them:
