- E250 cdi 4-matic, 2012
We have a mercedes E250cdi 4-matic with 7G from 2012.
It has 270 000 km on the meter and has been carefully serviced
Yesterday the car lost traction and we had to tow it home
Symptoms:
At gear selection D or R, the car will not move.
However you can hear when a gear is engaged, the sound is similar to a slightly bad bearing, it is as if two not perfectly smooth surface spin versus each other.
When going directly from D to P, one can hear that the axles are still rotating as the locking pin tries to get in. If going first to N that sound do not appear.
When engaged in D the output rpm from the gearbox is something like 169 rpm (at 798 rpm idle and turbine speed of 748 rpm), according to the diagnostic tool.
Going under the car with engine started and gear D selected, there's no movement on neither the rear prop shaft, nor the fwd prop shaft from the transfer case.
There are two fault codes; mechanical defect in automatic gearbox, and, something like unreasonable value gearbox rpm, vs wheel rpm
According to my wife, it felt a couple of times earlier on the day as if the car lost traction and wouldn't go as fast as she wanted it to going uphill. This is not verified, just a reflection
Help on this issue will be highly appreciated
