Hi all,
I am trying to get an approval to replace my wheels from 14" to 16" and I am facing bureaucracy issues with local authorities.
Has anyone managed to get a hold on a document allowing this?
From Mercedes / engineering authority / local code office, etc.

Thanks,
Eran

Interesting and not an issue I've ever come across.
Which country / jurisdiction are you in?

Providing you maintain the outer rolling diameter, by using an appropriate tyre and use wheels approved for your country I'm not sure what the objection may be.

I'm pretty sure that Mercedes will only certify the wheels available for that year and model.

Thanks for the quick reply.
I am from Israel, my 410D is from 1990.
The issue is that the mobility office here can see in their data 14" wheels. This is why they object to my request.
I am sure it is approved in the Europe/UK to ride with 16", so I am looking to get a hold of such an approval document to present here to the office.

I contacted Mercedes, they told me to speak only with the local rep, and they do not seem to be able to help me.

Any thoughts?

Although the 26" wheels from a 609 / 709 could be used there are not, as far as I am aware, any separate Type Approval documents available which would assist.

Certainly here in UK the type and size of wheel is not relevant to road use.

As you want to change wheels then easiest option may be to just swap back to 14" when you get the vehicle certified?

Yes, that is an option, but I would prefer not to hold two wheels sets and avoid this hassle.
I need to certify twice a year (cars 30 years and older here need to).

Moving to more operational info - What is the 16" wheels and tires specs I need to look for?
