How can I stop the drumming from the bootlid of my newly acquired 107? Are there sound-deadening pads available commercially that will fit?

There was originally some black foam-type stuff between the underside of the boot lid and the diagonal reinforcement pieces. It can turn brittle and then to powder over the years. This might be the cause. If so, it can be cured by wedging some of that double-sided foam sticky tape between the parts.

You can buy sound deadening pads from any car paint / bodyshop supplies, or motor factors. Some shops will stock them also.
