My 1974 450sl runs rough (mis-fires) at all speeds when the air temp sensor on the air filter manifold is plugged in. When it is not plugged in, the car runs fine. I checked the sensor with an ohm meter and it seems to be fine. Also, when it is plugged in, the car does not idle well and will die. When unplugged, no problem. Is it ok to run without the sensor plugged in? What exactly is the sensor for, and what may be happening here?
Thanks,
Ron
