Please can someone tell me how to replace the bulb in the passenger temparature wheel on my 500 SE. Having removed the complete dash in a 190 E to do something similar [all day], only to find out there was only really one nut to remove [4 mins 34 secs], I thought it sensible to ask advice this time!

Many thanks

If it is the temperature selector wheel then you will need to lift out the piec of wood that it sits in.

if you have climate control version, i.e. only one temperature selector wheel :

- pull out the ashtray and remove it's inner tray to reveal 2 phillips screws
- remove these screws and pull out ashtray housing, unplugging cigaretter lighter loom from it's rear
- just under the stereo in the ashtray region, you will see 2 metal clips. Push these clips down and pull out stereo - unplug looms from rear of stereo and put to one side.
- Once stereo is out, you will see 2 phillips screws at the base of the wood section that you need to remove. The only way you can undo these 2 screws is by removing te stereo.
- once screws are removed, pull out wood from base section, then pull it slightly downwards and then out from the top section
- now you can access the bulb holder that sits in the temp selector wheel housing and replace as neccesary.

Alternatively, you could just undo the passenger side dash panel(3 phillips screws), remove the base carpet mats and pull out the centre console side panel. This will reveal the bulb housing as well. However, re-fitting the under dash panels can be rather tedious, so I would reccomend the first approach.

Good luck.

Thanks for that. Mine is the manual temp selector with two wheels. I shall try this tomorrow - carefully!

Cheers
