Hello everyone. I am a new member (currently living in Spain - which isn't easy when your Spanish is weak and you have a technical problem). My 1988 500SEC went in for a service and came out with an air filter locking-nut in the combustion chamber via the venturi! After having the heads skimmed and the engine rebuilt (!) most of the engine management systems don't work (gear selector in Drive - cruise - kickdown - econometer - etc. I am fairly sure that the vacuum pipes , some of which come together at the front of the engine almost in the middle of the "V", have been connected incorrectly when the heads were refitted. They are all colour coded. I have a reasonable knowledge of mechanics but am NOT an expert. Can anyone tell me which pipes go where at this point please? A diagram would help - or better still a colour photo ??!! I'd take it back to the garage but have no confidence in their ability to resolve the problem!
