have been offered a 1989 500 sec with a genuine 87000 miles from new and its a 1 owner from new, its got a lovely set of alloys that i cant find a picture of anywhere on the net, no holes in them, but very sporty looking, been standing for a year with no mot or tax, but the bodywork and interior is in vgc, the owner wants £2000 for it, is this too much? thanks and regards

I'd say it all depends on what needs doing so the only way to check is to get an inspection carried out. Clearly £2k isn't much for such a car if mint but normally a good few £ needs spending and its this that affects the true value. After all, a £1500 car than needs £2k spending is a £3500 car. It certainly sounds good, but aged wiring, joints or pipework can have an equally expensive effect as a chunk of corrosion.

How much would it have been without your drink?

I'm not implying anything, but in your own words: -
