500SE rear door not locking

Hi,

Just got a 1990 500SE W126, I am new to these, fortunately it only has two faults.

1. The rear O/S door won´t lock. You can hear the pump whirring away, so I assume there is a big leak in that door. I am struggling getting the trim off the door to have a look at it. Is there any way I can lock this door permanantly until I can get it seen to?

2. The N/S bonnet catch is not locking. The O/S is OK and it looks as if it is the same cable, so I´m thinking it must be the catch itself, any suggestions please.

Most Merc door trim panels will come off in the same way - remove all the bits held down with screws (door striker surround, door pulls, arm rests and usually behind the door release catch) then get hold of the bottom of the door then lift it upwards (do not pull it away from the door as you'll break the clips) and it will literally "come off in your hands".

Refitting is the reverse
