500SEL wipers don't work!

The windshield wipers in my '92 500SEL don't work at ALL...not even the slightest hint of a motor sound. The fuse is okay. They worked about about a month ago (we don't get much rain here!). The only thing that changed electrically in that time period was the addition of a new battery. So, where does one go from here :?: :?:
