I have a 1991 500SL auto well maintained and with 90K on the clock.
The gearbox changes well but there is a mild clonk as it engages fourth only. A similar clonk appears when engaging reverse. Everything appears reasonably tight on the drive train.
When I bought the car (second hand) the situation was much worse and the cruise control did not work. A new cruise actuator was fitted, the cruise now works and the clonk almost went but only almost.
Any ideas?
