Good afternoon all

The other day I managed to shut the seatbelt buckle in the car door trapping it between the seat hinge cover and the door. In this process the plastic speaker cover in the door (bottom right looking at it from the inside) was broken. A couple of questions:-

1) Is this black plastic speaker cover a seperate piece - it appears to be fixed on the top surface of the door card rather than underneath it.

2) Is it possible to remove this speaker cover without having to take off the door card i.e. does it just pull off as a seperate item or is there any special 'trick'

3) Does anyone know of a good (cheap) place to buy a replacement.

Thanks

Ken

Hello, the door pannel must come off, and then the speaker grill is heat, plastic welded on, and needs to be melted off and the new one melted on to the door pannel.

I belive the only place is mercs and they are not that expensive!!!

im sure there must be a better implement to use than a soldering iron... its what i use but i think some sort of blowtorch may be better... just didnt want to risk burning the card..

You cant use a blow torch Jay in industry they use a hot rod, just like a soldering iron,, my iron a re temp controlled and it is best to use the lowest setting

hmm yes a red hot rod would be better... its a painful process with a soldering iron and cringe when i find one of my cars with a broken cover.... why cant they just use good old screws!!
