Hi, i have a 56 plate vito with a 6 speed manual gearbox (pull up collar for reverse) i want to change the gaiter, the old one is stretched around the plastic clipped in surround at the bottom and the top is held in with an o-ring (viewed when gaiter is inside out) how do you get the old one off? is it a case of removing the knob? if so, how?

Thank you in advance

Simon.

Cant be sure on yours but most gear shift knobs have a collet on the bottom and ½ turn releases it and they pull up and off

Hi, thanks for that, dont think there is a collar on mine, it looks like it unscrews or is held on with a bolt (mabey under a top cover?) either way i cant seem to twist it off or get to any retaining bolt. The pull up plastic collar for reverse comes all the way up to the base of the knob.

I Think that you will find the replacement part will have a zip type fastener and the old gaiter will have to be cut off. Buy the new one first and all will become clear.
