My old 1990 560 has had an ignition probem for a long time now and have spent a few euros replacing bits that did not need replacing to try and cure a reluctant/backfire start and hessitant acceleration. I am now guessing that its the ignition module(EZL?) thats bolted to the inner wing with multiple round connections thats feeding the wrong info to the ignition system. I have replaced a similar unit on my 88 230e because you would have to tap the old unit to get it to start and its now perfect with the new one, but that was an off-on fault.
Question...Is it possible that there is a fault in the unit thats feeding incorrect info to the ignition system or is it a faulty crankshaft position sensor?
Thanks in advance
