Hi there, I had the spheres replaced a few weeks ago because the car used to be an extremely hard ride, the old ones were shot, and with the new ones on the car is much better. However, the car seems to clunk over potholes at the front and back of the car (not that I purpously drive over them) but compared even to my brothers vauxhall omega I would have though a Merc would be better over bumps. The car has rear self levelling, but this is working fine, it is also very smooth over speed bumps, I wonder if anyone is having a similar problem to this. Or any ideas on what I should get checked out?

I read on this site that the clunking comes from the body and spheres coming into contact with each other. Seems like Mercedes said this was normal, I cannot beilieve it is as sooner or later this is going to wreck the spheres again and leave you in trouble again.

I have rear self levelling suspension and spheres and it is expensive trouble when it goes wrong. Mercedes in their wisdom refused to cover it because they deem suspension failure at 23,000 miles to be wear and tear and not covered by warranty.

I would not accept the clunking and would be back at the dealer insisting they sort it out on the basis that the car is not safe and is not roadworthy.

I dont know the car well enough to say if bump stops or bushes of some sort might cure it, needs an expert.
