560sel electric ariel and hello from a new person.

Hello everyone. Im new here as you may have guessed. Im Dan.

Just a little question to start with. My Fathet in law has a 560 sel and the electric ariel doesnt go all the way down. Works fine apart from this. Im thinking the bottom bit is seized. New ariel or can i get the top bit without the motor??

Hiya Had a similar problem with my W124, and found it hard to locate the top mast section only. German Swedish and French sold me a compatible aerial, despite my misgivings as a mechanical imcompetant, I managed to fit it in about 10 mins using the original bolt holes and fittings, cost around £30 if I remember correctly.

Hi

The problem is identifing the body of the aerial. When these cars came from the factory they had no aerial fitted so the dealers put them on. They might have used a mb supplied on eg hirshman or got one from the local audio store. If it is hirshman than your sealer can get these from mb. You need to look at the body of the aerial to identify it. But as the previous poster says a replacement mast is £20 or you can get the whole thing for £30.

electric ariel

Hi all,

Just replaced the electric ariel on my 190E - whole thing cost 20 quid from maplin electronics and took about 30 mins to replace - works just as well as the one that it replaced.
