hey just got my w203 ... my first MB...finally... yay!

After a nice drive home, I've just been playing with it for a while now and I can't seem to get the cd changer to work... It is a 6 cd changer in the glove box... I put a few in (and the colour of the magazine slots goes from white to red when there is a cd inside) But I don't hear the changer making any sort of electronic sounds at all... When I press CD on the audio system it says 'no cd' when I have put the Cds in the magazine... Maybe I'm not doing it right? Or is it broken? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I looked in the manual but couldn't find anything on the changer itself...

C.D. changer

Hi, unfortunately that not a CD changer it's only a space to store the disc's, you still have to put them in the slot at the top of the radio.. larchlap.

Enjoy..!!

Have you spoken with the Dealer/Previous owner? There is usually a separate owners/instruction book for the ICE.

Previous owner doesn't have a clue about it...They just slot the CDs in the front.

What a waste of space! Who uses this thing?! And what the hell is its purpose?! I'm amazed that such a useless thing is installed!

Yeh they don't have any other manual for the ICE, so I don't know what it is exactly... It's all factory MB tho.

6 CD Changer.... or err not!

Been doing some googling but I'm getting confused...I think it is a BECKER CD system, are the speakers also Becker then? But it could be Alpine no? In which case does it have Alpine speakers? Hmmmm confused.com

Thanks for the link Television, by the looks of things I have 155 classed as a CD Holder! I still can't believe it! Makes me chuckle tho! I think I might fit an MP3 single DIN unit for now, or wait until after I've done the B Service next week and install a Double DIN Kenwood/Garmin Navi system...I think that would suit the car and work out about half the cost of retro fitting COMAND.

But COMAND will work with your steering wheel controls, display in your instrument cluster, control a factory phone kit, control a Cd changer or auxilliary input (IPOD?). Comand doesnt have to cost an arm and a leg!

What model year is your car?
