I was assured that the Badge was factory fitted and to be honest it does not look like its fake either cause I have seen fake AMG badges.. Im not sure if different countries have different badging but for example your silver car (Television)for Malta has 2 side badges missing which should read V8 KOMPRESSOR... We have at least 2 SL 55 models here in Malta which are imported from the UK which do not have these side badges either .. I have seen at least one imported (from the UK) AMG kitted 500SL which does not have the AMG badging on the rear either as mine has so it could be different spec for different countries. It does not make a difference to me , though it would have if it was a UK import.

I am giving up on this, once again there is no such car as a SL500 AMG. the V8 compressoer badges were only fitted to cars that have a compressor, my 500 does not have one and neither does your 500, once again 2 exhaust pipes = SL500, 4 pipes = SL55. Again we now know that your car has the 7g box, so impossible for yours to be any form of AMG at all.

Sure you may not like the answer, but I can do nothing about that, its not my fault.

No AMG SL was ever sold with the wheels that you have either, be happy and you probably have a very nice SL500.

As I said in my earlier post,, It does not make a difference to me.. I know I have an aspirated V8 engine which is not AMG... dont know why such a fuss is being made about it though..quite happy with my car too.. no problems and thanks for confirming I have a 7 speed box as I should have and assumed I had.

Your car did not leave the factory with the AMG badges or V8 compressor badges, that is impossible. Most members on here do not like cars pretending to be what they are not. If you are happy as you say you are, well then just fine.

Excuse me sir, but I have no idea why you are making such a fuss cause I said my car is a SL 500 AMG.. I never said it has V8 COMPRESSOR badges either so dont say that I said that... I dont pretend I have a car that I dont have .. any idiot knows that an SL500 is an aspirated engine .... I quoted what I was told and I will certainly call the local agent to tell them that the AMG badge was placed and not factory fitted ... mind you if I wanted a SL55 AMG with the same money I could have bought a UK import but UK imports tend to scare me highly.. high mileage and rust issues... I look more for condition and looks in a car . mine being a dry 19000 miles car.. I think I should be happy..now can you stop making such an issue please.. as I said It doesnt make a difference to me.. why should it to you??? Thanks for your advise in any case.

Im sorry to hear that.. but we in Malta describe an AMG kitted SL 500 as I described it.. after all how can one describe that his SL 500 has an AMG kit.. Im proud that my car came out with an AMG kit also...makes it a bit special for me too.. Now any professional ideas of what I should describe the 1984 190E Im trying to fit a V8 in ... we dont have an engine yet though...

The 190 was a very good car, you will have to think of something.
Many people have been disappointed that their AMG bodied car had nothing to say that it was. The AMG body kit was one of the things that I call a must have This is my car when I first bought it back in 2006, it had the SL600 wheels on it.

Feeling a bit responsible for this - I did question the car validity not for any other reason than not understanding....like Malcolm I don't like stuck on AMG badges but sometimes you won't know
