I think that I know the answer to this but would like some re-assurance please.

I am considering a set of alloys for my 1993 220E 124 estate. Wheel size as above.

I have looked here and they list a set with ET42.

Does anyone have any experience of fitting this wheel size? I fear that the ideal set should have an ET 37 (or less) and that this set might foul the strut or be very close at least.

Any advice would be welcome. Thanks.

Hi there

I am running 7.5J 16Inch ET42's on my W124 Coupe. Have 225/55/16 on the rear and 205/55/16 on front. Works fine! I see no issue running these at all on your car.

Works for me!

As Kiwibins says the 5mm fifference means that the wheels are 5mm further out towards the outside of the car, that's fine on a 124.

I am running 7.5 x 16 wheels but with et of 35 and they run fine on the E320 Coupe 1995. My car has the big 4 pot caliper, does yours ????

As you have a staggered tyre set-up you should have one tyre set as 50's and the other as 55's to keep the same rolling radius or you could have problems with your ABS at higher speeds.

I have the staggered set-up with 50 and 55's and they are fine on the Continent at high speed.

Consult any tyre manufacturer table, but preferably the same as on the car.

I sadly do not have the 4 pot calipers (that I am aware of anyway!!!). Where do I get some?!

I am also running Conti's on the front and Michelins rear. According to my reading the rolling radius' seem to be ballpark. That and the Michelins are quite worn, Contis almost new. I plan to run the 225's all around when I replace the rears.

You do indeed have 4 pot calipers on the front, as they were a standard upgrade for the later W124 E320 Coupe.
