72 350sl. 9volt coil?

Hi all
just wondering should my sl be fitted with a 9v ignition coil as there appears to be a white ceramic resistor fittd to the inner wing near the coil but the connection taped up.

do you have a 12v coil as well or is there such a thing as a 9v coil?
