I've been offered a set of 15" 8 hole alloys which I haven't seen yet. They certainly look the part on the photo but apparently they are non genuine. Is anyone aware of copies of the real thing existing ? I suppose they should be stamped somewhere.

Any help appreciated.

You didn't see them on ebay did you? I saw the same ones if it's them. I'm currently looking for a set too and a mate did say to watch out as there are copies about and apparently they're simply not made and checked as well as the originals (of course) and could even crack at a bad time. Neither of us are experts, but I decided to avoid them as you can get the real thing so cheaply anyway. I'm sure someone on here will expand greatly on this.

Mine have loads of differnt markings including GERMANY and couple of numbers inside an oblong box, a 2 letter code, the offset, the size, and a couple of other numbers/letter.

Your Mercedes
BMW 525 Diesel Touring
8-hole copies

German & Swedish used to sell them but they won't admit to it now. They use non-standard wheel bolts so I'd steer clear of them. Mercedes bolts won't work

You can tell them apart - the (8) holes are slightly less well-defined on the copies and the rim edge is chunkier. They're pretty close, though

Thanks chaps

Yes Twickman they were on ebay, think I'll steer clear. I really didn't realise that there are copies around. Forewarned is forearmed !
