My '88 300SE runs sweet as a nut until speed/revs drop below 15mph-ish. Then it feels like the equivalent of the choke is coming on. All other engine speeds it's perfect.
Diagnostic chappy said that it may have been down to a faulty coolant temperature sensor (the thing two thirds of the way back down the cylinder head). I changed it, and the thermostat as well (which looked like it had been stuck open) and for a while it ran fine.
But now it's started doing it again.
Are there any other sensors that could affect what feels like low speed fuel mixture? Is there the fuel injection equivalent of a choke on this engine? Could an allegedly (according to diagnostic man) 60% efficient coil have anything to do with it? Any other ideas?
Car is on 93,200 miles, main dealer service history since day one - but I suspect it may have been traded into the place I got it from on a day when it was running fine...
