92 w124 e230 gearbox noise (manual)

wonder if anyone can help me out here.
when the engine is running in neutral there is a scrachy noise, when i put the clutch down it goes. when im driving it returns.
i t didnt bother me before but it just recently got louder and tis recking my head. now it is ticking as i drive.

is it a bearing or something?

I've moved this out so it has a better chance of being seen

It'll be the clutch release bearing. You need to take the gearbox out to get to it
