94 300SL key program

I have a 1994 300sl. The battery went flat in Key and when I replaced it the remote locking no longer works. I contacted MB and they said bring it to them and they wil program the key. Can you tell me the procedure for programing the key??

Ok you have to re sync the system.

this is done by pointing the remote at the vehicle and briefly pressing the lock or unlock twice, within 30 sec turn the key to posistion 2 in the ignition lock. the central locking should now be working.

it depends which system you have on your car if the above fails try:-

open the car door point the key at the reciever and press unlock within 10 seconds put the key in the ignition and switch on for no less than 30 seconds on removal the key should operate on remote

The key which I have only has 1 circular button in the middle the is not to seperate lock / unlock bottons. Is the receiver the thing above the interior mirror??

The receiver is inside the interior mirror. Point the remote at the mirror and do as advised above. Normally works a treat.
Are you sure the remote is working ok?
Best way to check is a) does the LED in the lens come on after a couple of seconds and b) look at it though a digital camera (even phone camera) - you will see the IR transmitter light up.
