As it's winter I thought I'd try and get the auxiliary heater working on my '96W210 E420 in preparation, that has never worked since I had the car. I found fuse 25 (in fuse box underneath the bonnet) to be blown so changed it and surprise surprise it blew straight away again.....I cleaned the fuse contacts and replaced with a new fuse again and this time it held. The display now worked so I set the time and day and set about seeing if I could get the actual heater to work. It permanently flashes the green light......I've been trying to find what this means but the Mercedes manual doesnt mention anything and neither does the Webasto manual which is available on the following link if any else is interested (this is for Webasto BBW46 and DBW46 heater types):

Can anyone shed any light on what I can do/look next? :-?

No it's an auxiliary heater that was an option on all merc's. It runs independent of the engine and warms up the coolant and turns the automatic climate control on. You can set it to come at a programmed time i.e. when it's icy just before you take the car to work in the morning. The control for it is next to the cigar lighter......thats whats flashing green!

T212 facelift, 2013. A few toys including pan roof, 19" rims, Harmon Kardon, nappa, privacy glass.
my e on a 2001 has the button by cigratte light. Red light shows when it's off but it's manually controlled not programmed.

My Saab 9-5 you could programme, but only an option on the diesel as it pulled fuel into a small fuel tank behind the bulkhead to power and ensur ethe battery was not drained. Didn't think it was an option for petrol (unless it's battery powered ??)

Question -- how do you programme it ??

To program it press the program button and then select upto three times for the system to come on. It then comes on for around 30 to 60 mins and heats the car up.
