Hi there i'm new here. I fitted an alarm into a 97 C280 today and started it numorious times while fitting. After finishing the alarm and putting the car back together i did my final check of the car and it wouldn't start. Now i checked all my wiring and even removed the immobilisers and had the car rewired back to it's factory state and it still won't start. There is a 12volt feed from the ignition down the starter wire when turning the key. I checked the fuses i could find in case there was a blown fuse but everything seems ok. Does anyone here know of the location of all the fuse boxes in this model or know what is causing this problem as it has me stumped.

Cheers

Is the starter turning the engine over?, also can you hear the petrol pump when you turn on the ignition ?. The main fuse box is at the driver side rear of the engine bay, also 2-fuses on top of the OVP relay in the ECU compartment on the other side of the engine bay.
Secondary fuse box is under the boot floor behind the battery, also located here is the fuel pump relay (green), check the fuse on top if you don't hear the fuel pump.

Check you have 12v at the starter lead from the battery, it may be just a co-incidence but not unknown for this lead to corrode through at the connection where it passes through the floor on the passenger side.

If your engine does not crank that means that the small wire that goes to starter motor solinoid is not getting the 12v from the switch (key) this is not a normally fused item. On some cars around the same age as yours they have a starter lockout relay normally fitted on the bulkhead inside the car behind the radio, if you do have one then the cable to the starter solinoid will go there
