Hi All,

First post here, actually trying to help a friend with her car, and she's not into internet forums!!

She has a '97 CLK 200 Sport. This has happened about 4/5 times now. She's driving along - be it 30 or 80 mph - and the car's electrics just die, so no lights, no power steering, no power assisted brakes, etc. It scares the crap out of her, cos she's rather little and thus standing on the brakes when this happens doesn't do a great deal!

I've had a brief look at other posts, but can't find this kind of post - would appreciate very much if anybody has experienced similar, or has any ideas of what's going wrong - the dealer is fobbing her off at the moment, and so it's proving difficult to get them to sort it out.

Thanks again in advance for all your help,

Thanks Spike, yep battery and earth have been checked.

when they did the diagnostic the car was/had been running fine, hence why they didn't find anything.

I suspect somekind of loose connection, if it were a relay or fuse then it wouldn't have worked until you replaced the part. Also I'm assuming that if you run diagnostics when the car is running fine, then that cutout problem may not be reported back to the test kit??
