97.e300.td. Maf Prob. Solved.

hi everyone, some of you will know how i have struggled to resolve the problems i had with the maf and power output on my engine. some weeks ago one member suggested i disconnect the air flow sensor plug (the MAF ), this restored the smooth running of the engine but i still had a very noticeable lack of power, like the turbo was not working. my inde fitted a new "pierburg" MAF,A6110940048. this returned the bad running, undriveable. i told my inde this was the wrong maf as my original was a bosch 0000941248. i asked him to send me another maf, when it arrivd it was another "pirburg" same as before. i tried it and same thing, connected engine terrible, disconnected ran ok but no power. at this point i started to doubt the tech. ability of my inde. i was determined to soldier on and arranged my second visit to "dronsfields" in oldham, service manager, mark broadley, my inde. following four cups of tea in their canteen mark my inde invited me to take a test drive with him. performance fantastic, never been this good for past two years. i could not wait to ask him what the problem/problems were, he said the turbo boost pipe securing bracket had broken away and the boost pressure would gradually fall away as the pipe slowly vibrated away from the full socket into the air intake manifold,apart from the various controls which feed off the boost pressure i was suffering massive air intake loss to the engine. the other think that was a suprise was the "pierburg" maf which replaced my faulty bosch maf was fitted and working well. i appologised for doubting him as explained earlier and said i would certainly reccomend his company. first visit , 2hrs work plus new maf £100. this visit 2 hrs, £85. i have bought several 2nd. hand parts from them over the years good supplier, low cost, i am now adding service and expertise. herbiemercman.

angela dronfield just e-mailed me she said thankyou for my comments and glad to hear my car is now ok. she also said their company have had some adverse comments from the club postings and she welcomed my comments. their current base is just like a breakers yard with a service garage, they have hundreds of accident damaged cars, all mercs, all there parts arrive next day, low cost with 3 months guart. they are moving to a much bigger site up the road, nearer to oldham, i immagine it will be a bit posher but i hope they remain competative, all the parts i have had and now my recent problem solved by them at low cost can't be bad. herbiemercman.
