There seem to quite a few knowledgeable people on this site so I was wondering whether you could help me make up my mind.

I am currently in the market for an ML Class 98 or 99 model as my budget is around £20-22 k.

Which model would be the better one to get in terms of economy , styling (which I assume is identical) and all around drive-ability and do both these cars seem to depreciate in value equally ?

Are there any serious problem points that I should look out for when test driving or examining the cars ?

Apologies for the number of questions.

Many thanks

Mike

Well the two motors cars, are very different to each other.

In my opinion the ML270 would be the way to go, because first of all, you should be through all the problem areas that the 98/99 ML320 had.

Great fuel economy, we exceed with ours, the claims made by MB.

Great Torque, a idea car, if you tow anything.

A very strong engine, which if looked after, will run OK all through your ownership.

Try and buy the auto, not only does it out perform the six speed manual, but is a much stronger gearbox.
