Hello,
I am a newbie and have never had a merc before and I have been looking for something with a bit comfort but also a bit economy, I was out looking at a C250 diesel sport yesterday it has 80,000 on the clock and I could not believe how quiet and smooth the ride was, it had a few small scratches but nothing to shout about , overall the car was spotless for a 10yr old car. Is there any worries I should have, it has a brand new exhaust & battery and full mot and I think I could get it for around £2500 - £3000.
Or if anyone is looking for a swop I have a 8 seater nissan largo highway star mpv that I bought to take my granchildren out in (buggies etc) I use it everyday it is a 2lt turbo deisel auto and it is in perfect condition except for 2 very small hairline scratches, I would be looking to swop for something around £4500.
But if anyone could give me some advice about buying a diesel auto merc it would be much appriciated.
thanks john .

Had my C250 TD 2 years now. Happy with good economy smooth ride and good performance. In fact I have decided to stay with the 1999 model rather than trade up. Prices for spares good and reliability has been good. It seems a good price and must be better than an MPV. Just keep an eye out for the tin worm around wheel arches and boot lock

Me too had my C250TD Auto Sport over 3 years really happy with it. It's a 1998 with 131k on clock. No real problems, wear and tear been very reliable, lovely car to drive.
Again check for rust around wheel arches, other than that no problems.
For servicing find a good local Merc independent/specialist as the main dealers will take out your eyes.

i have a c250td sport manual and owned it since 11 miles on clock and now covered 185,000miles. still goes like a dream and the most expensive item replaced apart from normal wear and tear was wiper motor (£170 merc), still running same clutch
