I'm trying to find are the wires that go to the instrument cluster to tell the speedometer what speed to read out. It would be nice to access the wire from an area easier than behind the cluster, but if someone knows which wire it is in the cluster that would be nice.

Pictures would be a great help as well, but any help is greatly appreciated.
:)

Hello,
I think that you will find that on your age of car its fully electronic and the speedo is done by the esp controller and sent on the can network to the cluster. What the probelm?

If im wrong someone will correct me!!

Ehhh. Lets just say I'd like to disturb the signal to the speed to alter the readout.

If there is a wire from the network that outputs the final signal to the motor for the speedo arm that would be key, unless there is another way I can alter the signal.

Ultimate goal: Make the speedometer look messed up, but be able to easily return it to factory settings as if nothing had happened.

Messed up = not reading the speed the wheels are spinning at.

I'm in the United States by the way. I don't think it would make much of a difference though.

Thanks for the quick responses!

You should have a speed signal in the passenger kick panel or possibly pin 1 on the radio

Thanks guys.

>80mph, but since I was nice the officer told me that he bumped my ticket down to 77 mph.

I was thinking of just borrowing some of my buddies huge wheels and getting a calibration done...

Hi,
If you look at your other post, i have posted a pic of the speed sensor, and describe its location.
Be careful at which point in the wiring you "mess" up the signal, as other crucial safety systems maybe effected too, and may cause damage to their respective ECU's.
